#1

Decided to start over again so I could primarily focus on trying to start a craft related blog. As I am typing, I have just realised that HobbyCraft now have an online shop. I have put my debit card in the trusted hands of someone else. You know, just in case. But looking at buttons and ribbons makes me a little bit excited. When I was a child and visiting my maternal grandma, she had a room JUST FOR SEWING. That's my dream. With plenty of floorspace for unfolding fabrics, pinning and cutting. My student room in Sheffield is not so great for this as it is tiny. I was always transfixed by the jam jar of buttons she kept on the windowsill. To be quite honest, I still am. Then I would sit on the floor, empty out all the mismatch buttons, and arrange them into groups according to size, shape and colour.

Christmas is supposed to be a good time to find some creative inspiration. However, it's rather difficult to be inspired when you've been dumped with your two younger brothers and left over the holidays, your considerably better half is far, far away at home when you're too used to walking fifteen minutes to see him, and the pipes have burst and the house is flooded. Oh and did I mention the sub zero temperatures?! I'm only fast approaching 22, but already winter makes me feel so frail.

Recently, I've been looking at a lot of vintage and kitsch homeware things. Probably because I have a real grown up persons house for next year and I am secretly excited. Last night I was talking kitchen appliances with a friend. I got very enthusiastic about a particular hand blender I wanted for making soups. I think at this point, my friend and I suddenly felt quite old.
